Catcher Chris O'Brien crushed a second inning grand slam and from there the Desert Dogs never looked back in their 10 - 2 win over the Javelinas. O'Brien, who hadn't done much for Glendale heading into this game, connected on a first pitch curveball and cleared the left field wall. Later in the game he also picked up his first single of the Fall League, in his 29th at bat. No other Dodgers were in the lineup, however it should be noted that Travis Mattair (Reds) went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI's while Brandon Jacobs (White Sox) also drove in a pair and scored 3 runs.
Glendale starter Jamie Walczak (Reds) was outstanding as he allowed just 1 hit over 3 shutout frames. Jarret Martin pitched the 4th and while he loaded the bases on a single and two walks, he was able to get out of the jam on a ground out. Based on the pitch tracker Martin was mixing fastballs, sliders, and cutters, and topped out at 94 mph. A quartet of relievers finished off the win, and of the four only A.J. Achter (Twins) gave up any runs.
