Spring training 2013: Bullpen sessions galore

A few notes on players reporting to camp, an inspirational quote from a legendary Dodger, and some spring television broadcast information.

The Dodgers on Thursday held their second day of pitchers and catchers workouts. The battery mates will have workout time to themselves for one more day on Friday, the day for position players to report, while the first full squad workout is Saturday.

Here is a collection of notes from Thursday, along with several pictures from today's bullpen sessions:

  • Skip Schumaker reported to camp early on Thursday.
  • Non-roster catcher Eliezer Alfonzo, who has been dealing with a family issue, is expected to report Friday.
  • There is a new quote on the wall above several lockers in the Dodgers clubhouse, from Pee Wee Reese, that states, "If you rush in and out of the clubhouse, you'll rush in and out of baseball."
  • Don Mattingly was asked about quotes last weekend from Giants first baseman Brandon Belt, who said of the Dodgers' spending, "All I can say is, you can’t buy chemistry." Mattingly's response: "They have the right to talk. They have won two out of three, and they can say whatever they want. I'm not concerned about our chemistry at all. That's never been the issue. We just didn't play well enough the last 35 days to get in."
  • The Angels announced their spring broadcast schedule on Thursday, and their game against the Dodgers in Tempe on Mar. 1 will be televised on Fox Sports West. That will be the first Dodgers spring game on television.
  • For those of you that get Fox Sports San Diego, the Padres also released their spring broadcast schedule, and the Mar. 5 game against the Dodgers in Peoria will be televised by that channel.
