Caribbean Series 2013: Hanley Ramirez, etc on ESPN2 Sunday

The game marks the first Caribbean Series game televised by ESPN in English, and will feature Hanley Ramirez as well as Fernando Valenzuela, who will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

USA TODAY Sports

If you are starved for baseball and looking for some alternative programming to football on Sunday afternoon, baseball comes to the rescue. The Caribbean Series matchup between Mexico's Yaquis de Obregón and the Dominican Republic’s Leones del Escogido will be live from Hermosillo, Mexico.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 beginning at 4 p.m. PT on Sunday afternoon, the first time that ESPN has carried any part of the Caribbean Series in English. Calling the action will be Jon Sciambi and former Dodgers player Candy Maldonado.

Hanley Ramirez is on Escogido's roster, and he had two walks in four plate appearances in the opening game of the Caribbean Series on Friday night against Puerto Rico’s Criollos de Caguas. Ramirez was the designated hitter.

Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela, who will be inducted into the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before Sunday's game, as he did on Friday night as well.

The series will also be available to watch on ESPN Deportes, as well as online in Spanish at Watch ESPN.
