The Dodgers make their first trip of the spring on Sunday to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, to battle the Rockies. Matt Kemp will be on the trip, playing in three consecutive days for the first time during spring.
Kemp will be joined by Clayton Kershaw and starter A.J. Ells, and Skip Schumaker against the Rockies. Manager Don Mattingly originally had Ellis and Schumaker starting on Saturday but moved them both to Sunday. It was in part to get Shumaker more time at second base with Mark Ellis getting the regular day off. Also, it gives the Dodgers something resembling a major league lineup, a loose rule during spring training.
"With split squads I didn't really worry about it, but I'll try to see a few major league guys when I can," Mattingly said on Saturday.
Here is the Dodgers travel roster as posted in the clubhouse on Saturday:
Pitchers (6): Kershaw, Javy Guerra, Matt Guerrier, Juan Abreu, Mark Lowe, Peter Moylan
Kershaw, making his fourth start of the spring, is expected to pitch roughly five innings or about 75 pitches.
Catchers (4): Elis, Wilkin Castillo, Ramon Castro, Matt Wallach
Infielders (7): Dee Gordon, Schumaker, Justin Sellers, Juan Uribe, Alfredo Amezaga, Brian Barden, Omar Luna
Outfielders (6): Alex Castellanos, Elian Herrera, Kemp, Yasiel Puig, Tony Gwynn Jr., Jeremy Moore
Matt Magill, who at times was scheduled to pitch in both Friday games before rain washed away those plans, will instead pitch in a 'B' game on Sunday on the back fields at Camelback Ranch.
