Opening day rosters: Dodgers vs. Giants

The Dodgers will have an eight-man bullpen, the Giants are carrying three catchers, and Los Angeles has one extra infielder relative to San Francisco, in a look at the 25-man rosters for each team on opening day at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers open their 2013 season on Monday afternoon against the rival Giants, and here is a look at the opening day rosters for both clubs.

Both the Dodgers and Giants open the season with 12 pitchers, but the Dodgers have an eight-man bullpen, compared to seven relief pitchers for San Francisco. The Giants have their usual contingent of three southpaw relievers in Jeremy Affeldt, Javier Lopez, and Jose Mijares. The Dodgers have countered with three left-handed relievers of their own, with newcomer J.P. Howell joining Paco Rodriguez and former starter Chris Capuano in the Los Angeles bullpen.

San Francisco went with three catchers, with Buster Posey, Hector Sanchez, and Guillermo Quiroz.

The Dodgers have four players on the disabled list: Chad Billingsley, Hanley Ramirez, Scott Elbert, and Ted Lilly. The Giants have four on the DL to open the season: pitcher Eric Surkmap (left elbow surgery), infielder Brett Pill (right knee surgery), and old friend Tony Abreu (right knee strain).
