Minor League Player of the DayDee Gordon (AAA) - 3 for 5, 1 3B, 3 RBI's, 1 BB, 3 SB's, 2 Runs. My apologies to Scott Van Slyke and Zach Lee, but I decided to give this award to Gordon. After getting off to a slow start for the Isotopes, Dee has been hot of late and has his average up to .319. Monday was his 3rd multi-hit game in the last 5, and for the season he has 5 walks against just 7 strikeouts.

AAA – The Isotopes fell behind early on Monday, but they put on an offense show in the second half of the game and defeated the Cubs 11 to 5. Several Albuquerque hitters had big nights, including Scott Van Slyke who crushed 2 more homers to give him a league leading 6 bombs. Tim Federowicz also took one deep as part of his 3 for 5 night, while Alex Castellanos crushed his second homer of the season as well. Dee Gordon extended his hit streak to 5 games and boosted his average to .319 by going 3 for 5 with a triple and 3 RBI's. Dee also stole 3 bases and now paces the league with 8 swipes. On the mound Stephen Fife got hit around a bit as he allowed 8 hits and 4 runs over 5 frames, but he also got the win and struck out 8. Peter Moylan threw 3 innings of solid relief, while Chris Withrow tossed another scoreless frame and has now allowed just 1 hit over 5.1 innings while striking out 9.

AA – Zach Lee threw another gem on Monday as the Lookouts defeated the Birmingham Barons (White Sox) 7 to 4. Lee tossed 6 shutout frames to lower his ERA to 1.06, allowing 5 hits and striking out 3. Once Zach left the game Ryan Acosta took over and immediately gave up 4 runs, but luckily the rest of the bullpen was able to shut to the door on the victory. The notable performance came from Yimi Garcia who picked up his 2nd save of the year with a flawless 9th. At the plate Yasiel Puig rebounded from his 0 for 4 night on Sunday with a 2 for 3 effort, knocking in a run and stealing a base. Joc Pederson extended his hitting streak to 9 games with a RBI triple and a single, while Chris Jacobs went 3 for 3 with a double and a RBI.

HiA – Seven of the nine hitters in the Quakes lineup had at least one hit on Monday as Rancho quieted the Storm (Padres) 9 to 5. Scott Schebler led the way with a 2-run homer and a RBI single, and O'Koyea Dickson also drove in 3 with a pair of doubles. Scott Wingo doubled and plated 2, while Anglo Songco and Noel Cuevas both had a pair of singles. Rancho starter Gustavo Gomez won his 1st game of the season by allowing 3 runs over 5.2 innings, striking out 5 and walking 3. Juan Noriega threw 1.1 scoreless frames in his 2013 debut, but Pedro Baez gave up the first two runs of his professional career in his inning of work.

LoA – Off day

Coming up – All four teams are back in action tomorrow, starting with Matt Magill who will be making his third appearance for the Isotopes. Chris Reed will get the ball for the Lookouts, while Miguel Sulbaran and the Loons will actually be facing Jeff Ames, the brother of Steve Ames. The Quakes starter is still TBD.

Minor League Transactions – HiA: The Quakes placed relief pitcher Matt Shelton on the DL, and Juan Noriega took his spot on the roster.
