Since injuring his neck on May 1, Gonzalez has been held out of the starting lineup in four of nine games, and left two other games early after aggravating the injury.

Now that they have won a game, the Dodgers get greedy and will try to win a series against the Marlins on Sunday at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers will do so without Adrian Gonzalez, who is out of the starting lineup after aggravating his muscular strain in his neck on Saturday night.

Scott Van Slyke gets his first start of the season, at first base, in place of Gonzalez, owner of a nine-game hitting streak. This is the fifth game Gonzalez has not started this season, and the fourth since injuring his neck on May 1. He appeared as a pinch hitter last Sunday in San Francisco, and has said batting doesn't hurt his neck. So don't be surprised if Gonzalez pinch hits on Sunday.

Tim Federowicz also starts, giving A.J. Ellis his seventh day off of the season behind the plate. Manager Don Mattingly has said since spring training that he planned to give Ellis more time off this season, and entering Sunday Ellis is tied for sixth in the majors with 29 starts at catcher.

In 2012, Ellis also started 29 of the first 36 games, in 41 days. This season has seen the same amount of starts, in 42 days.

The Dodgers last won consecutive games on Apr. 25-26, against the Mets and Brewers.
