Dodgers vs. Brewers starting lineups: Skip Schumaker starts at 2B

New, comments

As the Dodgers aim to secure the series victory against the Brewers in Milwaukee, here are the starting lineups.

Victor Decolongon

Dodgers skipper Don Mattingly's Tuesday lineup card at the Milwaukee Brewers portrays a couple of changes at second and third base. Skip Schumaker gets the nod at second over Mark Ellis, who played consecutive games since returning from the disabled list. Schumaker has been struggling at the plate all year batting .197, yet possesses a decent on base percentage of .307.

At hot corner, ultra-utility man Nick Punto slides over, as Juan Uribe and Luis Cruz get the day off. Punto's hot start could spell more consistent playing time, posting a .308 average, a .416 on base percentage, one home run, eight RBI, 11 runs and even two stolen basses. Although, Punto's early success doesn't accurately reflect the13-year veteran's career, sporting a life time hitting clip of .249.

For the Brewers, manager Ron Roenicke will give underperforming second baseman Rickie Weeks Tuesday off. Weeks is currently below the Mendoza line at .168 with three long balls and 10 runs driven in. Jeff Bianchi receives the fill in start and bats eight. Therefore, first baseman Yuniesky Betancourt moves up from eigth to bat seventh.

If the Dodgers win Tuesday, it would be the first pair of consecutive road victories since April 21-23 against the Orioles and Mets.
