The Dodgers began their second day of the MLB Draft by picking third baseman Brandon Dixon in the third round, No. 92 overall. Dixon is perhaps best known for driving in the winning run with a ninth inning double for the University of Arizona to capture the 2012 College World Series.

Dixon went to high school in Murrieta in Riverside County, and was drafted in the 48th round by the Rangers in 2009, but did not sign.

Dixon in his junior season with the Wildcats hit .369/.443/.561 with 13 doubles, five triples and six home runs in 55 games, with 57 runs and 51 RBI. He led the Pac-12 in batting average and stole 30 bases.

He was not rated in the top 100 by either Keith Law at ESPN nor Jonathan Mayo at MLB.com.

"I'd like to go play pro ball," Dixon told the Arizona Daily Star on Thursday. "If all goes as planned, it should be good. If not, I obviously have a great situation to come back to here."
