The Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2013 MLB Draft on Friday picked shortstop Brandon Trinkwon out of UC SAnta Barbara, No. 214 overall. The 6'0, 160-pound middle infielder is a native of Tustin.
The 21-year-old junior Trinkwon hit .280/.367/.384 with the Gauchos in 2013, with 10 steals in 60 games. He walked 30 times and struck out 28 times.
Trinkwon bats left, throws right, and graduated from Beckman High School in Tustin in 2010.
On the MLB.com draft coverage, Jonathan Mayo speculated that the shortstop Trinkwon might profile more as a second baseman or utility man in the majors.
The slot value for the No. 214 pick, per Baseball America, is $171,900.
