MLB Draft 2013 results: Dodgers select LF Henry Yates in 9th round

Yates played for three colleges in four years, and hit .413 in 45 games as a senior for Texas Wesleyan.

With their ninth round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, the Dodgers on Friday selected Henry Yates out of Texas Wesleyan University, the No. 274 pick overall. Yates is a 6'2, 190-pound senior.

Yates had a busy college career. He graduated from Arcadia High School in Phoenix, then went to the University of Delaware for two years. He then transferred to Vanguard University in Orange County for his junior season, then moved on to Texas Wesleyan for his senior season.

He hit .413 with a .600 slugging percentage and 45 RBI in 45 games as a senior in 2013, with five home runs and 13 doubles.

The assigned slot value for the No. 274 pick, per Baseball America,is $143,500.
