Minor League Player of the Day – Justin Sellers (AAA) - 4 for 5, 1 HR, 2 2B's, 6 RBI's. Sellers, who had been in a recent slump as of late, broke out in a big way with 4 hits and 6 RBI's on Tuesday. For the season Justin is hitting .329 with a .886 OPS.
AAA – The Isotopes collected 18 hits on Tuesday as they crushed the Sounds (Brewers) 10 to 1. As you can see above Justin Sellers had a huge game for Albuquerque and fell just a triple shy of the cycle, but there were a few other notable performances on offense as well. Nick Buss went 2 for 4 and crushed his 12th homer of the year, while Rusty Ryal had 3 hits including a double. On the mound Matt Palmer had strong performance as he struck out 9 over 7 innings while allowing just 1 run on 4 hits. Sean White and Javy Guerra got the final 6 outs without giving up a run.
AA – Off day
HiA – After allowing 10 runs in his last outing, Gustavo Gomez completely turned things around as he led the Quakes to a 6 - 0 win over the 66ers (Angles). Gomez fired 5.1 scoreless innings while allowing just 4 hits, although he didn't record a strikeout in this game. Matt Shelton got through the next frame without any issues, then Joel Lima preserved the shutout with 2.2 innings of 1-hit ball. At the dish Bobby Coyle returned from the DL with a bang as he went 3 for 4 with a homer. O'Koyea Dickson also took one deep and also singled in route for 3 RBI's, while Scott Schebler had two more hits to increase his average to .309 for the season.
LoA – Off day
Rookie Ogden – The Raptors scored all their runs in the later innings on Tuesday as they grounded the Osprey (Dbacks) 5 to 1. Brandon Trinkwon started the scoring with a solo homer in the 6th, then Jesus Valdez followed that up with a 2-run blast in the 8th. Justin Chigbogu also helped out as he went 2 for 4 with a RBI to boost his average to .389 since joining the club. Starter Victor Araujo threw very well in this one as he faced just two batters over the minimum through 6 innings of work. Overall Arajuo allowed 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 6. Thomas Taylor worked two shutout innings of middle relief, then Jacob Rhame got the final 3 outs while keeping his ERA at a perfect 0.00.
Rookie Arizona – Off day
DSL – The Dominican Dodgers struggles continued as they fell to the Rays 8 to 3. This one was doomed from the start as Hector Rodriguez allowed 5 runs in the 2nd inning on 3 hits and 3 walks. Oscar Cruz then gave up another run in his 3.2 innings of work, and the lone highlight was 4 strikeouts over 2 shutout frames from 17 year old Jairo Pacheco who lowered his ERA to 0.68. As is often the case the offense was held without an extra base hit, and in fact the Dodgers managed just 2 singles in the game (although they did collect 12 walks).
Coming up – All seven teams are back in action on Wednesday and there are a couple of good pitchers throwing in Zach Lee for the Lookouts and Julio Urias for the Loons. Zach Bird will be on the mound for the Loons and Lindsey Caughel will get the ball for the Quakes.
Minor League Transactions – AAA: Reliever Greg Infante was released. HiA: Bobby Coyle was activated from the DL while Devin Shines was placed on the disabled list.
