Minor League Player of the DayIs a tie between Scott Schebler and Carlos Frias, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (HiA) Outfielder Scott Schebler is continuing to hit home runs on a tremendous pace since the All-Star break, on Friday he hit 2 more giving him 11 in the last 29 games as he also posts a 1.215 OPS in that same period. But Carlos Frias followed up a solid 6.2 IP outing on the 13th with a 7 IP start on Friday, this time he struck out 11 and walked only 1.

AAA – The Isotopes got ahead early and then held on to defeat the Storm Chasers (Royals) 4 to 3 on Friday. Matt Magill started and wildness send him out early despite giving up only one run. Magill walked 5 in his 4 innings of work along with 3 hits and 4 strikeouts. Red Patterson got the win while scattering 6 hits in 2.2 innings. Good work by Peter Moylan and Javy Guerra to close it out. The first four Albuquerque batters, Dee Gordon, Elian Herrera, Tony Gwynn and Alex Castellanos all scored with Gordon getting 2 hits and a stolen base and Castellanos hitting his 14th home run.

AA – The Lookouts had even a poorer offensive game on Friday as they were one-hitted by the Barons (White Sox) losing 1 to 0. Sean Burroughs had the only hit, a double but outside of that hit and a hit batter (who was later caught stealing) the Lookouts had some very quick offensive innings. Joc Pederson continued a slow second half going 0 for 3 with 2 strikeouts. Duke von Schamann gave up 7 hits and struck out 3 but only 1 run in 5.2 innings. Carlos Marmol continued is tour of Dodger minor league teams by pitching 1 inning, walking 1 and striking out 1.

HiA – The Quakes bounced back on Friday to win 5 to 2 over the Ports (A's). Co-player of the day Carlos Frias had one of the best pitching performances of the day with his 11-strikeout, 7 inning performance, walking just 1, 1 run and 3 hits. Co-player of the day Scott Schebler, hit 2 home runs, one with a man on. O'Koyle DIckson and Bobbly Coyle also homered for the Quakes.

LoACorey Seager is now just rolling along as he got a couple of hits and drove in 2 in the Loons rain-shortened 8 to 6 win over the Cougars (Cubs). Miguel Sulbaran had a rough start with 4 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks and 4 strike outs in 4 IP. Luis Meza got the win and Crayton Bare picked up his first save. Aside from Seager, James Baldwin had 2 doubles and drove in 2 runs (also stole 2 bases) and Malcolm Holland had two hits.

Rookie OgdenMissoula (Dbacks) matched the 10 runs they scored the previous game but the Raptors had 4 more runs as they won on Friday 14 to 10. The Raptors had 16 hits and 5 walks with Brandon Trinkwon leading the way with 5 hits, 2 doubles and 2 RBI. But Justin Chigbogu and Hank Yates homered and Kyle Farmer and Jesmuel Valentin joined Chigbogu and Yates with 2 hits apiece. Jonathan Martinez went 6.2 and got the win despite his giving up 5 runs.

Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodgers rallied but came up short as they lost to the Padres 9 to 7. In a game where the Dodgers scored 7 but still went only 3 for 16 with RISP, Adam Law remains one constant offensive performer as he went 2 for 4. Reymundo Torres hit his first home run. Michael Ahmed had 3 hits and 2 RBI. William Soto was the highlight of the four pitchers, Soto scattered 3 hits and and walk while striking out 4 and giving up an unearned run in his 2 innings of work.

DSL Game 1 -The box score says July 3, 2013 but I can't find anything to tell me where this game was picked up from, all of this is a long way to say the Dodgers lost to the Red Sox 3 to 2. As for the game, the Dodgers didn't do a lot of hitting with only 2 hits and striking out 11 times. Jimy Perez had one of the hits and walked once. Oscar Cruz and Hector Rodriguez pitched well, each striking out 3 and walking 1, Curz gave up an unearned run and Rodriguez gave up the only hit.

DSL Game 2 - The seven inning version of the regularly scheduled game between the Dodgers and Red Sox was another offensive snoozefest for the Dodgers as the Red Sox won 4 to 0. Jairo Pecheco was the Dodger star despite taking the loss, Pecheco pitched 4 IP, 5 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Coming up Rob Rasmussen lines up for the Isotopes, Brandon Martinez goes for the Loons, Chris Reed gets his first post-All Star star for the Lookouts, Gustavo Gomez is on the mound for the Quakes, and the Raptors is TBD.

Minor League Transactions – AA: Pitchers Jharel Cotton and Carlos Marmol switched locales as Cotton was assigned from Chattanooga to Rancho Cucamonga and Marmol made the reverse trip form Rancho Cucamonga to Chattanooga.
