Carlos Marmol was acquired by the Dodgers on July 2, and will debut for Don Mattingly on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the flame throwing Jose Dominguez got optioned. Marmol will continue to wear number 49 for the Dodgers.

The former Chicago Cubs closer stands in at 2-4 with a disastrous 5.86 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. Over the past three seasons, Marmol sports 92 saves. Cubs general manager, Theo Epstein, decided to part ways with Marmol because of mechanical issues.

Dodgers general manager, Ned Colletti, decided to give Marmol an opportunity to fix the issue in the minor leagues. During Marmol's stint at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Chattanooga, he accumulated a 3.60 ERA in five innings of work.

Dominguez tenure with the Dodgers began on June 30, collecting a 2.16 ERA in 8.1 frames. The young Dominican right-hander still needs to work on command, and hopes to improve his change-up.

After the move, the Dodgers have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
