Dodgers minor league report July 30: Matt Magill shines in 2-0 victory

Matt Magill did his best to make himself worthwhile trade bait, Alex Santana still hitting in twos, and Dee Gordon looking very much like a second baseman.

USA TODAY Sports

Minor League Player of the Day: Matt Magill pitched six shutout innings, walking only three, striking out seven.

Triple A: The Isotopes won 2-0 behind a brilliant Matt Magill. Scott Van Slyke hit a double, Dee Gordon stole his 43rd base while playing 2nd base.

Double-A: The Lookouts put five runs on the board but still lost 6-5. Chris Reed started and got fifteen outs, giving up just one run. Onelki Garcia relieved him and gave away the game with three runs while getting just five outs. The offense was provided by Osvaldo Martinez who drove in three runs. Joc Pederson had a hit and walk in four at bats. Angelo Songco and Jonathan Garcia went 0-for-8 and are a combined 0-for-15 this week.

High Class-A: The Quakes lost 13-3. Nothing to see here.

Low Class-A: The Loons lost 2-1 with Corey Seager collecting one hit. Miguel Sulbaran started but went only three innings.

Rookie (Ogden): The Raptors had some fun winning a slugfest 13-11. Justin Chigbogu, and Jesmuel Valentin both hit their third home run. There were a lot of hitting stars so we will start at the top. Brandon Trinkwon had three hits, Chigbogu had two hits, Valentin had two hits, and Jacob Scavuzzo had three hits. Alex Santana had missed several games but came back with two hits. Santana has two hits in four straight games, and five out of six. Overall the 19-year-old 3rd baseman has a .919 OPS.

Rookie (Arizona): DNP
