Yasiel Puig returns to starting lineup for Dodgers vs. Rockies

The 22-year-old, one day injuring his hip and thigh, returns to the starting lineup, batting second and playing right field.

USA TODAY Sports

The Dodgers on Thursday go for the sweep of the Rockies at Coors Field, and will do so with Yasiel Puig in the lineup. Puig, who exited Wednesday's win after crashing into the right field wall in the fifth inning, is back in right field, batting second for the Dodgers.

This is the 29th consecutive game Puig has played since getting called up, and his 28th start. He was listed as day-to-day with a bruised left hip and tightness in his left thigh, but was able to recover well enough to start the series finale.

Puig has a seven-game hitting streak, during which he is hitting .500 (14-for-28) with four doubles, a home run and a triple.

The Dodgers outrighted new acquisition Carlos Marmol to the minors after the relief pitcher cleared waivers, per Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. The move removes Marmol from the 40-man roster while he works out mechanical issues in the minors, an assignment agreed to by the right-hander.

It is unknown exactly where Marmol will report, but he is not yet listed on the Triple-A Albuquerque roster, per Chris Jackson of the Albuquerque Examiner.
