Minor League Player of the Day – LHP Chris Reed had a nice if not short start, 4 IP, 4 hits and 9 strikeouts. The game will be resumed later today.
AAA – A very short game was suspended as Albuquerque and the Cubs stopped play in the bottom of the 2nd with the Cubs leading 1 to 0. Jonathan Sanchez made his third start for the Isotopes and his effectiveness is still a question mark. This time he pitched 2 innings, 1 hit, 2 walks and had 1 strikeout. The game will be continued today and will be recapped tomorrow.
AA – The upside of the Lookouts and Suns (Marlins) games being suspended after Chris Reed completed the top of the 4th, is that Chris Reed's nice game of 4 scoreless innings, 4 hits and 9 strikeouts will count in the record books. The Lookouts scored the only run of the game thus far. The game will be made up today and a full recap will appear in tomorrow's report.
HiA – The Quakes lost again to the Mavericks (Mariners) on Friday, this time by a 6 to 3 score. Lindsey Caughel had a tough go of it, 5 IP, 5 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks while striking out 6. Blake Smith recorded one out, had 2 unearned runs scored, with a hit and a walk. Second half bright spot, Scott Schebler, had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Schebler is hitting .391 with a 1.240 OPS in 16 post-All Star games.
LoA – 10 hits and 7 walks equaled only 2 runs that didn't prove to be enough in Great Lakes losing effort against West Michigan (Tigers) 7 to 2. Chris Anderson made his third start and he pitched well, 3 IP, 1 hit, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Arismendy Ozoria gave up 6 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks, and 2 home runs. Brandon DIxon had a 2 for 5 game. Corey Seager went 1 for 4 with a walk.
Rookie Ogden – Two times two times two did not work out for the Raptors as they lost to the Owlz (Angels) 8 to 4. RHP Scott Barlow had too many crooked numbers in his box score, 5.2 innings pitched, 6 hits, 6 earned runs, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts and 2 home runs allowed. Jesmuel Valentin went 2 for 2 with 2 walks, Hank Yates went for 1 for 2 with 2 walks, and Justin Chigbogu had a 1 for 3 night with a walk.
Rookie Arizona – Carrying the victory flag today for the Dodger affiliates, the Arizona Dodgers soundly defeated the Brewers 6 to 1. On a rehab assignment from Albuquerque, Matt Magill started and pitched 3 solid innings, giving up 1 hit and recording 3 strikeouts. Dodger pitchers held the Brewers in check, giving up only 3 hits and 1 unearned run. Victor Arano, signed out of Mexico in the last few months, pitched 3 innings and struck out 4, got the win. Josh Henderson, a 2012 draftee and No. 63 on Brandon Lennox's 2013 Prospect list, went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Adam Law and Cody Bellinger had 2 hits each, Bellinger had a triple and 3 RBI.
DSL – There was no box score nor report about the scheduled game between the Dominican Dodgers and the Royals, since several games were postponed in the last week, the presumption is that this one was also postponed.
Coming up – Angel Castro will start the regularly scheduled game for the Isotopes; Andres Santiago is starting the regularly scheduled game for the Lookouts; Jon Michael Redding takes the hill for the Quakes; Tom Windle goes for the Loons; and Francisco Villa tosses for the Raptors.
Minor League Transactions – Scott Van Slyke optioned to Albuquerque; Matt Magill assigned from Albuquerque to Arizona for a rehab assignment; LHP Michael Johnson assigned to Arizona; LHP Billy Flamion assigned to Arizona.
