The Dodgers will be without center fielder Matt Kemp in the starting lineup on Monday as they open a three-game series against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix.
This will be the third straight game out of the lineup for Kemp, who hurt his left shoulder during a swing Friday night in San Francisco. The Dodgers announced Friday that Kemp irritated the AC joint in his left shoulder, a different part of the shoulder than he had surgery in October.
Manager Don Mattingly said after Friday's game that Kemp was not likely to be placed on the disabled list and that Kemp would likely only miss "a couple of days." On Sunday Mattingly reiterated that he thought Kemp would play Monday, per Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.
But that is not the case in the series opener in Arizona.
Kemp is hitting .254/.309/.357 with four home runs in 61 games this season, but was hitting .273/.333/.485 with two home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored in 10 games since getting activated from the disabled list on June 25.
