The Dodgers' historic hot streak has pushed them to the top of the National League West. But with the best 48-game stretch in the major leagues in 71 years, the Dodgers are now the favorites to win the 2013 World Series per the odds makers at Bovada.
With 40 wins in their last 48 games, the Dodgers have done something not done since Stan Musial and the 1942 Cardinals. With a 7½-game lead in the NL West and their red hot play for seven weeks, more money than ever has been pouring in on the Dodgers to win it all for the first time in 25 years.
The Dodgers have 9/2 odds to win it all.
"For the first time during the regular season, the Detroit Tigers have been surpassed as World Series favorites by none other than the hottest team in baseball the LA Dodgers," said Bovada sports book manager Kevin Bradley. "The amount of liability we have incurred on the Dodgers over the last month, combined with their stellar play as of late, forced us to drop them to 9/2 favorites just ahead of the Tigers who still sit close by at 5/1."
Behind the Dodgers in the National League are the Braves, with 13/2 odds to win the World Series, the Cardinals at 10/1, and both the Pirates and Reds at 12/1. In the American League, the Red Sox follow Detroit at 15/2 odds, then the Rays and Rangers at 11/1, and the Athletics at 12/1.
