Minor League Player of the DayChris Reed (AA) - 7 IP, 0 Runs, 1 walk, 8 K's.  Lots of candidates to choose from on Monday, but I'm going with Reed due to his solid strikeout numbers and the fact that he walked just 1.  It's been a bit of an up and down season for Chris, but overall he is holding his own with a 3.68 ERA over a career high 127.1 innings.

AAA – The Isotopes dropped their 7th straight on Monday after they fell to Oklahoma City (Astros) 6 to 2.  The struggling Albuquerque offense managed just 3 hits in the loss, with the only notable performance coming from Dee Gordon who went 1 for 2 with a couple of walks and a pair of stolen bases.  Starter Stephen Fife had all kinds of trouble finding the plate in the first inning as he walked 5 of the 8 batters he faced, hit another, and also allowed a hit.  Overall recorded just 1 out and was charged with 6 runs.  Amazingly the bullpen responded with 7.2 innings of shutout baseball, including a team high 3 frames from Sean White who struck out 4.

AA Game 1 – The Lookouts defeated the Suns (Marlins) 2 to 0 despite collecting just 3 hits.  Chris Reed was the main reason for the win as the big lefty threw 7 shutout innings and struck out 8.  He also went 1 for 1 at the plate and scored one of the two runs in the game.  Rafael Ynoa and J.T. Wise had the other hits in the game, with Wise's leaving the yard for a solo homer.

AA Game 2 – Chattanooga completed the double header sweep Jacksonville (Marlins) after Andres Santiago pitched the club's second consecutive shutout in a 7 - 0 win.  In some ways Santiago had an even better game than Reed as he allowed just 2 hits over his 7 innings of work, although the difference was that Andres only struck out 3.  At the plate the reining Southern League hitter of the week Joc Pederson had another big game as he went 2 for 4 with a double and a 3-run homer.  Jonathan Garcia had a single, a triple, and a RBI while Miguel Rojas had 3 hits.

HiA – Off day

LoA – The Loons used some timely hitting to knock off the TinCaps (Padres) 12 to 5.  Seldom used catcher Jose Capellan had a career high 6 RBI's thanks to a pair of doubles, one with the bases loaded, and a sac fly.  Devin Shines drove in 3 runs himself with a 3 for 5 night that included a double, while Webster Rivas went 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored.  On the mound Tom Windle struggled a bit as he gave up 5 hits, 3 walks, and 4 runs over 4 innings.  Ralston Cash came in and got the win in relief by allowing just 1 run over the next 3 frames.

Rookie Ogden – The Raptors were swept by the Mustangs (Reds) on Monday after a lot of late scoring resulted in a 10 - 7 win for BillingsKyle Farmer, who went 4 for 6 in the game with a double, a homer, and 4 RBI's, actually tied the game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings, but in the 11th the Mustangs answered back with 4 runs to secure the win.  Adam Law had the only other multi-hit game for Ogden as he went 2 for 6 with a double and a RBI.  On the mound Scott Barlow actually threw pretty well as he allowed just 5 hits and 2 runs over 6 frames, but Kyle Hooper was charged with the blown save after he gave up 3 runs over the next two innings.  Michael Johnson took the loss after pitching the 11th, and while he permitted 4 hits and a walk in the inning none of the 4 runs that scored against him were earned due to a Justin Chigbogu error.

Rookie Arizona – Off day

DSL – The Dominican Dodgers walked off with a 8 - 7 win over the Mariners on Monday.  Ibandel Isabel started the late rally with a leadoff single in the 9th, then pinch-runner Rafael Gomez moved all the way to 3rd after a couple of walks.  Dennis Santana turned out to be the hero after he hit a sacrifice fly to end the game.  Other offense stars were Ariel Sandoval, Jose Luis Javier, and Luis Paz who all had 3 hits each.  Starter Osiris Ramirez continued to struggled as he allowed 4 runs over the first 3 innings, but Elou Jean provided solid relief with 3 shutout frames.

Coming up – The Raptors have the day off on Tuesday, but everyone else will be in action including Zach Lee and the Lookouts.  Jonathan Sanchez gets the ball for the Isotopes, Jon Michael Redding throws for the Quakes, and Jonathan Martinez toes the rubber for the Loons.

Minor League Transactions – AAA: Scott Van Slyke was optioned back to the Isotopes.  LoA: James Baldwin was activated from the temporarily inactive list, while Malcolm Holland was placed on the DL.  Rookie: Billy Flamion was assigned to the Raptors from the Arizona Dodgers.
