Minor League Player of the Day – Gustavo Gomez (HiA) - 5 IP, 1 Hit, 0 Runs, 3 K's. Gomez hasn't been mentioned a whole lot this season, but he put together a solid game on Wednesday to lead the Quakes to victory. While his overall numbers aren't great, he has averaged almost a strikeout per inning this season.
AAA – One day after being eliminated from playoff contention, the Isotopes pulled out an exciting 2 - 1 walk-off victory over the Express (Rangers). Down to their last out in the bottom of the 9th and trailing by a run, Brian Barden singled in a run to tie the game. Then in the bottom of the 11th Alex Castellanos did it himself as he tripled for his third hit of the game then later scored on a wild pitch. Albuquerque wouldn't have even been in this game had it not been for solid pitching, starting with Red Patterson who allowed just 1 run over 7 frames while punching out 7. Onelki Garcia followed with a shutout inning, Peter Moylan was next and fired 2 good innings of relief, then Kelvin De La Cruz ended up with the win after a hitless 11th.
AA – Off day
HiA – The Quakes continued their playoff push with a 2 - 0 shutout of the Mavericks (Mariners). Gustavo Gomez fired 5 innings of 1 hit ball to start the game, and while he walked 4 he was never in any real trouble. Eric Eadington and Juan Noriega followed with 3 innings of scoreless ball, then Craig Stem recorded the save with a perfect 9th. At the plate Rancho had just 4 hits, but one of them was a solo homer from Chris Jacobs. The other run scored on an O'Koyea Dickson triple that followed a Scott Schebler walk. Corey Seager went 1 for 3 with a single.
LoA – The Loons moved closer to a playoff spot after defeating the Dragons (Reds) 4 to 1. James Baldwin was a big part of the offense as he had both of Great Lakes' extra base hits, going 2 for 2 with a triple, a homer, and a walk. Aaron Miller and Brandon Trinkwon also had 2 hits each. On the mound starter Julio Urias had another impressive outing as he allowed just 2 hits over 4 scoreless innings and struck out 5. Geoff Brown got the win in relief with 4 solid frames of his own, then Owen Jones recorded the save.
Rookie Ogden – The Raptors captured a rain shortened 7 - 3 win over the Owlz (Angles) on Wednesday. Joey Curletta had the big game at the dish as he went 2 for 4 with a double, a homer, and 3 RBI's. Adam Law stayed hot with a pair of doubles while Alex Santana drove in a run and scored twice. Starter Jose De Leon wasn't at his best as he allowed 3 runs over 5 frames, but he still managed to record the win. James Baune was excellent in relief as he fired 2 perfect innings prior to the rain.
Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodgers recorded a come from behind, 10 - 9 victory over the Reds in their final game of the regular season. They will continue to play, however, as they have qualified for the playoffs. The Dodgers would continue to rally and finally pulled ahead on a Josmar Cordero single in the 7th.
