Minor League Player of the Day: 2012 20th round pick Ogden Raptor Jacob Scavuzzo has performed better in his second season, the 6'4" right-handed centerfielder has a .997 OPS, on Saturday night, he went 2 for 2 with a home run, 5 RBI and 2 walks.
Triple-A: The Isotopes didn't score until the top of the 9th and the two runs they plated wasn't enough as they lost 4-2 to Fresno (Giants). Jonathan Sanchez made his 9th start for the Isotopes and he gave up 3 runs in 5 innings as well as 4 hits, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. No Isotope had more than one hit, Dee Gordon hit a two-out single to score 2 runs.
Double-A: No Lookout pitcher went unscathed but their offense could not do the same as they were shutout again a 9-0 defeat to Montgomery (Rays). Lookout pitchers Carlos Frias, Pedro Baez and Michael Thomas all gave up runs and the only Sean Burroughs and Miguel Rojas had more than one hit.
High Class-A: Rancho Cucamonga did not start off well in their game, falling behind 9-0 and eventually losing 11-5 to Visalia (Diamondbacks). Corey Seager eventually arrived and had two unfruitful plate appearances and played 3B. Scott Schebler hit his 24th home run and Bobby Coyle had 2 hits. Pitcher Geison Aguasviva made his Quake debut and gave up 5 runs (3 earned), 5 hits, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts and home run allowed.
Low Class-A: The Loons of Great Lakes scored 5 runs late and beat Lake County (Cubs) 8 - 3. Tom Windle started for the Loons and he gave up 2 runs in 2.2 innings, he also allowed 3 hits and 4 walks with 4 strikeouts. Tyler Ogle, Kevin Taylor and James Baldwin each homered.
Rookie (Ogden): The Raptors fell behind 7-0 before rallying to beat Idaho Falls (Royals) 10-8. The Raptors third through seventh placed batters had 10 total hits and Jacob Scavuzzo had a big game with a home run and 5 RBI. Alex Santana and Kyle Farmer also had two hits. 4 Raptor pitchers pitched the final 5 innings, giving up but one run, 2013 draftee Jacob Rhame recorded his 7th save.
Rookie (Arizona): As on Friday, the AZL Dodgers beat the AZL Royals 9 to 7. Theo Alexander went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. Edison Bock won his 4th game of the season
Rookie (Dominican): DSL Dodgers beat the DSL Mariners 2-1. 18 year old pitcher Kevin Guzman, who signed earlier this year from Venezuela won the game pitching 5 innings giving up an unearned run, 2 hits, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Ariel Sandoval again 3 hits, all singles. Sandoval had a slow start but in 56 PA, he has hit .364 with .841 OPS.
