Dodgers vs. Rockies: Hanley Ramirez sits in opener

Ramirez has started three times in seven games since the Dodgers clinched the National League West.

LOS ANGELES -- With Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the series opener against the Rockies, the Dodgers will send out mostly the regular lineup on Friday night at Dodger Stadium. Aside from Andre Ethier, who won't play this weekend, the only regular out of the lineup is shortstop Hanley Ramirez, but that is to be expected.

Since clinching the division Ramirez, who is dealing with an irritated nerve in his back, has started just three of seven games (including Friday), and never on consecutive days. Ramirez started Sunday in San Diego, Tuesday and Thursday in San Francisco.

He is hitting .373/.459/.725 with five home runs in 15 games in September.

Nick Punto gets the start at shortstop on Friday night for the Dodgers.
