LOS ANGELES -- This may sound like blasphemy, but there is another option to listen to the Dodgers on radio in the playoffs than Vin Scully. Former Dodgers pitcher Orel Herhiser and Dan Shulman, two-thirds of the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball television announcing team, will call Dodgers playoff games for ESPN Radio for as long as the team is active.
Shulman will be the play-by-play man with Hershiser as his analyst on ESPN Radio for the Braves-Dodgers NLDS series, then the duo will call both the NLCS and World Series for ESPN Radio as well. The duo will also call Tuesday's wild card game between the Pirates and Reds at PNC Park.
Scully will announce the first three innings and final three innings (and extra innings) of every Dodgers postseason game, which was announced a week ago. And because the question continues to get asked, yes Scully will travel to all postseason road games.
Charley Steiner and Rick Monday will call innings four through six for all Dodgers postseason games on radio for the Dodgers.
But there are several Dodgers fans without the ability to hear Scully, either outside of the Dodgers radio network or aren't subscribers to MLB Gameday Audio. For those, Shulman and Hershiser are a great fallback option.
Here is the rest of the ESPN Radio crew for the postseason:
