Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully recently announced he would return next season for his 65th year behind the microphone for the Dodgers. But he will begin his calendar year in 2014 in Pasadena, as the Grand Marshal of the Tournament of Roses Parade, which was announced on Thursday.

The last living baseball personality to be named Grand Marshal of the Rose Parade was Hank Aaron in 1975, the year after he broke Major League Baseball's all-time home run record. Jackie Robinson was posthumously named as part of a Grand Marshal group in 1999.

Other sports stars to serve as Grand Marshal include Arnold Palmer (1965), Merlin Olsen (1983), Pele (1987) and Chi Chi Rodriguez (1995).

Grand Marshals have run the gamut from Presidents Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford to Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, William Shatner, and Angela Lansbury to Mickey Mouse and Kermit The Frog.

Scully was announced at a ceremony earlier on Thursday.
