The Dodgers on Wednesday placed five players in the top 100 prospects in baseball as judged by Keith Law of ESPN, led by Julio Urias, ranked No. 14 overall.
Urias at 17 years old is the youngest player in Law's top 100. Law praised the left-hander's four-pitch mix including a plus curve and feel for pitching.
"For Urias to reach his ceiling, it's about staying healthy, and continuing to improve his command as he faces tougher hitters who won't chase fastballs up or watch curveballs right over the heart of the plate.", Law wrote.
In addition to Urias, the Dodgers were represented in the top 100 by No. 18 Corey Seager (who Law says has 25 to 30-home run potential), No. 41 Joc Pederson, No. 75 Zach Lee and No. 96 Chris Anderson. The latter was the Dodgers' first round pick in 2013 and someone Law said was "built for big workloads."
On Tuesday Law ranked all 30 MLB farm systems and had the Dodgers 11th, up from 18th in 2013.
Law's ranking adds another log to the fire that the Dodgers' consensus top four prospects are Seager, Urias, Pederson and Lee, in some order. That quartet has been ranked the top four by Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, MLB.com and now ESPN.
