The first week of the 2014 Arizona Fall League is done, with Corey Seager and Matt Magill starting out strong among the Dodgers contingent. The Glendale Desert Dogs were 2-2 for the week, with one rainout.

Seager was 4-for-10 for the week with two doubles, a triple and three walks in his three games. He had a pair of multi-hit games while playing shortstop, then was 0-for-3 with a walk on Saturday as a designated hitter.

Magill was scheduled to start on Wednesday but a rainout pushed him to a piggyback relief role on Thursday against the Surprise Saguaros. Magill, who walked 28 batters in 27⅔ major league innings in 2013 then followed that up with a career-worst 15.3-percent walk rate for Triple-A Albuquerque in 2014, was a strike-throwing machine in his 2⅔ innings on Thursday, throwing 26 of his 33 pitches for strikes. He walked one and struck out four while allowing two unearned runs on two hits.

Magill is scheduled to start on Tuesday night at Peoria.

Daniel Coulombe pitched in one game, on Friday, and none of his three batters faced put the ball in play. He walked one and struck out two.

Blake Smith pitched one scoreless inning on Thursday, with two strikeouts and a walk.

Mike Thomas, like Seager in the AFL for a second year, struck out two in a scoreless inning in his one appearance on Friday, with a hit and a walk allowed.

Scott Schebler played three games in left field and was 2-for-12 (.167) with two singles and a walk.

Darnell Sweeney was 2-for-8 (.250) with two walks and three runs scored in his two games. Sweeney, who saw time at second base, shortstop and center field for Double-A Chattanooga in 2014, played both his AFL games this week at second base, both in the two games that Seager played shortstop.
