Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks: Clayton Kershaw expected to pitch 2 innings in opener

SCOTTSDALE -- The Dodgers open up their 21-game Cactus League schedule on Wednesday afternoon against the Diamondbacks at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.

Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers, and is scheduled to pitch two innings in the game, followed by another inning in the bullpen afterward. Brandon McCarthy starts on the mound for Arizona.

The starting position players are expected to play about five innings on Wednesday, per manager Don Mattingly.

Others scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers include Sam Demel, Daniel Moskos, Javy Guerra, Jose Dominguez, Ross Stripling and Seth Rosin. Right-hander Steve Smith is also in uniform from the minor league side, wearing number 95.

Other minor leaguers in uniform for the Dodgers on Wednesday are infielder Darnell Sweeney (No. 83), outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker (No. 89) and first baseman / outfielder Jamie Romak (No. 94).

Pitchers available for Arizona aside from McCarthy are Josh Collmenter, Joe Thatcher, Addison Reed, J.J. Putz, Brad Ziegler, Bo Schult, Willy Paredes and Zeke Spruill.
