Yasiel Puig benched for arriving late

Denis Poroy

LOS ANGELES -- Matt Kemp gets to start his first game back after all. Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig arrived late to Dodger Stadium on Friday and was removed from the starting lineup against the Giants.

Puig was slated to play right field and bat second, but he didn't report to the field until just after 10:25 a.m., over 45 minutes after players were to be on the field for pregame stretching. Batting practice began at 10 a.m.

Kemp, originally out of the starting lineup even though he was activated from the DL this morning, will now bat second and play center field. Andre Ethier shifts from center field to right.

it is unknown whether Puig will be available to pinch hit, or is his punishment will last all game. Puig is listed in the bench section of the lineup card in the Dodgers dugout.
