Dodgers in search of runs, wins

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers look to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon against the Giants, and look to snap out of an offensive funk. The Dodgers have scored four runs in their last three games and have been held to two or fewer runs in four of the last five games.

Juan Uribe is out of the lineup again on Saturday, but his right hamstring strain hasn't necessitated a disabled list stint, yet. Chone Figgins gets the call at third base.

"I have a lot of confidence in what we're going to be able to do," manager Don Mattingly said on Friday night. "We haven't been able to do it yet, but I know these guys are still going to hit."

That confidence does not extend to Andre Ethier, who is 30-for-70 (.429/.449/.557) in his career against Matt Cain, activated off the disabled list to start for the Giants on Saturday. Carl Crawford gets the start in left field, owner of a six-game hitting streak and hitting .550 (11-for-20) during that span.

Ethier is 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly against Cain this season, but since the beginning of 2012 is 8-for-23 with three doubles and a home run against him (.348/.360/.609).

The Giants in addition to activating Cain from the disabled list have called up Tyler Colvin from Triple-A Fresno. The team placed Brandon Belt on the 15-day disabled list with a broken thumb, suffered in Friday night's game, and optioned George Kontos to Triple-A.

A.J. Ellis, who has been rehabbing in extended spring training at the Dodgers complex at Camelback Ranch in Arizona, will play in games with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday and Monday, Mattingly told reporters on Saturday.
