Dodgers minor league report May 13: Scott Schebler homers twice to snap Lookouts losing streak

All 5 runs scored by the Lookouts on Tuesday came via the home run

Minor League Player of the DayScott Schebler (AA) - 2 for 3, 2 HR's, 3 RBI's.  After smaking 27 homers for the Quakes last year, Schebler now has 8 bombs for the Lookouts in a much tougher league for hitters.  While his .260 average isn't too impressive, his .890 OPS is solid.

AAA Zach Lee took the loss on Tuesday as the Isotopes were defeated by the Chihuahuas (Padres) 6 to 3.  Lee, who has lost 4 out of his last 5 starts, allowed 8 hits and 5 runs over just 4 frames while striking out only 2. Steve Smith gave up a run of his own in two innings of work while Colt Hynes tossed two scoreless frames later in the game.  The offense was pretty quiet in this one outside of Clint Robinson who went 2 for 4 with a double and Tim Federowicz who went 3 for 4.  Joc Pederson had a hit and a walk in 4 plate appearances.

AA – The Lookouts won for the first time in almost a week as they defeated the Stars (Brewers) 5 to 3Scott Schebler led the offense with a pair of homers, a two-run shot in the 4th and a solo bomb in the 8th, to give him 8 long balls for the year.  Brian Cavazos-Galvez also went yard with a runner on board to complete the scoring for Chattanooga.  On the mound Andres Santiago allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks over 4 innings before his bullpen combined for 5 shutout frames.  Juan Noriega and Mike Thomas tossed 2 scoreless innings each before things got interesting in the 9th.  Jarret Martin walked the first three batters of the frame before closer Pedro Baez came in and struck out the next three batters to end the game.

HiA – The Quakes scored 8 early runs on Tuesday then held on for a 9 - 5 win over the Nuts (Rockies).  Everybody in the Rancho lineup had at least one hit in this game except for Corey Seager who went 0 for 5.  Steven Proscia went 2 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBI's while Chris Jacobs and Aaron Miller each doubled and drove in a run.  Starter Tom Windle didn't have his best stuff as he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits and 5 walks, but he still recorded the win by going the required 5 innings.

LoA – After scoring a season high 17 runs on Monday, the Loons were held to just 2 on Tuesday in a 4 - 2 loss to the Whitecaps (Tigers)Joey Curletta homered and Paul Hoenecke went 2 for 4 with a double, but that was it for the Great Lakes offense.  Starter Zachary Bird allowed 4 runs (3 earned) over 6 innings of work, but the bullpen was strong over the final 3 frames as Victor Araujo tossed two perfect innings and Mark Pope threw a scoreless top of the 9th.

Coming up – The Isotopes are off on Wednesday, but the other three teams are in action including a couple of morning games.  Garrett Gould and the Lookouts play before noon, as do Victor Arano and the Loons.  The Quakes play their normal evening game and will send Fabio Martinez to the mound.

Minor League Transactions – HiA: Pratt Maynard was activated from the DL and Adam Law joined the Quakes while Jose Capellan and Jeremy Rathjen were both removed from the roster.
