LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers will try to sweep the Marlins on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, and will do so with starting catcher A.J. Ellis behind the plate.
The Dodgers activated Ellis before Wednesday's game and optioned catcher Miguel Olivo back to Triple-A Albuquerque. Ellis is batting eighth.
Juan Uribe is out of the lineup for a sixth straight day but will be available to pinch hit and play the field if needed. Manager Don Mattingly said Uribe would start on Friday in Phoenix, but that he wanted to give Uribe's right hamstring ample rest, including Thursday's off day.
Matt Kemp gets a day off, something manager Don Mattingly planned and told Kemp before Tuesday's game, and before they knew who would be starting on the mound for the Marlins. Andre Ethier starts in center field, with Carl Crawford in left.
Hyun-jin Ryu felt good on Wednesday, one day after his bullpen session. The next step for the left-hander is likely a simulated game, though Mattingly said the simulated game hasn't yet been scheduled.
