Minor League Player of the Day – Alex Guerrero (AAA) - 3 for 5, 2 HR's, 3 RBI's. Guerrero gets the slight nod over Pederson for the player of the day thanks to his single, though both had great games with 2 homers each. Over his last 10 games Alex has a 1.155 OPS and a .417 average.
AAA – The Isotopes connected on 5 homers on Thursday to crush the Grizzlies (Giants) 14 to 8. The two top prospects on the team, Joc Pederson and Alex Guerrero, did most of the damage as they had two long balls each and had 3 RBI's apiece. Guerrero also singled to finish the game 3 for 5, while Mike Baxter and Trayvon Robinson also had 3 hits each. Jamie Romak had the other homer in the game. Starter Carlos Frias did not throw well in this game yet still picked up the win thanks to his offense. Frias allowed 6 runs on 11 hits over 6.1 frames. Jose Dominguez also struggled as he walked two while recording just 2 outs, and Paco Rodriguez gave up a two-run homer later in the game.
AA – The Lookouts scored 17 less runs than they did on Wednesday as Chattanooga was shutout by the BayBears (Dbacks) 4 - 0. The offense had 8 hits in this game, but just one went for extra bases as O'Koyea Dickson went 2 for 4 with a double. Erisbel Arruebarrena had the first 3 hit game of his professional career and is hopefully heating up as he has 5 base knocks over the past two games. On the mound Nick Struck wasn't all that great as he allowed 9 hits and 4 runs over 6 innings. Hector Nelo was perfect over the final two frames in relief.
HiA – Adam Law picked a good time for his first hit of the game as his walk-off single in the 10th gave the Quakes a 6 - 5 victory over the Nuts (Rockies). Law was 0 for 5 prior to the game winning hit, which was set up by a leadoff single by Steven Proscia and a walk by Robbie Garvey. Chris Jacobs had yet another big game as he went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's, while Brandon Dixon stayed hot with a 3 for 5 effort that also included a two-bagger. On the mound Chris Anderson was average at best as he allowed 6 hits, 2 walks, and 4 runs over 5.1 innings while striking out just 3. Blake Smith threw a scoreless inning in relief and Daniel Coulombe picked up the win with a perfect top of the 10th.
LoA – The Loons rolled over the Hot Rods (Rays) on Thursday with a 6 - 2 victory. Starter Scott Barlow threw well in what turned out to be his first win of the season as he did not allow an earned run over 5 innings and struck out 6. Ralston Cash followed with 2 perfect frames that included 4 K's, then Victor Araujo collected the 2-inning save and lowered his season ERA to 1.04 in the process. At the plate right fielder Joey Curletta was perfect as he went 3 for 3 with a double, a triple, and 2 RBI's to increase his average to .364 for the season (which leads the Midwest League). Dillon Moyer also tripled and finished the game 2 for 4, while Kyle Farmer doubled and drove in a run.
Coming up – Julio Urias will be the starter of note on Friday as the throws for the Quakes, while Red Patterson will get the ball for the Isotopes. Tyson Brummett will take the mound for the Lookouts and Victor Arano will toe the rubber for the Loons.
Minor League Transactions – AAA: John Cannon was removed from the roster to make room for Miguel Olivo.
