Hyun-jin Ryu makes his return, on the road

Ryu hasn't allowed a run yet on the road this season.

Hyun-jin Ryu puts his spotless road record on the line on Wednesday night against the Mets as the Dodgers welcome back the left-hander after missing over three weeks with inflammation in his left shoulder.

Ryu has made four road starts in 2014 and has yet to allow a run in any of them, a total of 26 innings. Ryu actually has a streak of 28 consecutive road scoreless innings dating back to 2013, and has allowed one run in his last 40 road innings.

The 28-inning road scoreless streak is the longest by a Dodger since Chad Billingsley had a streak of 30⅓ innings snapped on April 10, 2013. Since 1914, Ryu and Orel Hershiser are the only Dodgers with four consecutive scoreless road starts.

In each of his two starts against the Mets in 2013, Ryu allowed only one run in seven innings.

The Dodgers have beaten the Mets five straight times and have won 10 of their last 11 meetings, dating back to 2012. They will try to make it six straight on Wednesday, facing a pitcher making his second major league start for the second game in a row.

Jacob deGrom allowed just one run on four hits in his major league debut last week, along with six strikeouts in seven innings, but suffered the loss.

Adrian Gonzalez homered on Tuesday, his second straight game with a home run and team-leading 11th on the season. He is hitting .300/.396/.556 on the road this season with six home runs and 20 RBI in 23 games.

Justin Turner gets the call at third base on Wednesday in place of the injured Juan Uribe at third base, batting seventh. As he did on Tuesday, Carl Crawford gets the start in left field. The Dodgers lineup:

Gordon 2B
Puig RF
Ramirez SS
Gonzalez 1B
Kemp CF
Crawford LF
Turner 3B
Ellis C
Ryu P
