Tim Federowicz starts at catcher in opener vs. Pirates

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers open up a four-game series against the Pirates on Thursday night and will feature mostly the same lineup as the last game against Cincinnati.

Matt Kemp starts in left field again, and again bats sixth. Andre Ethier makes his seventh straight start in center field and bats second for a second straight night.

The only change is at catcher, with Drew Butera getting a rest after catching every inning of the previous four games.

Tim Federowicz gets his first start at catcher since getting recalled from Triple-A on Monday. He was 5-for-46 (.109) with a pair of doubles in his first stint this year with the Dodgers. This is his 14th start at catcher, and fourth time catching Dan Haren this year.

Old friend Russell Martin starts at catcher for the Pirates, batting fifth, making just his third start at Dodger Stadium since his departure after the 2010 season. Martin is 0-for-4 with two walks in his two road games at Dodger Stadium, both in 2013.

Martin is 8-for-41 with two doubles and three walks (.195/.267/.244) against Dodgers starter Dan Haren in his career.
