Dodgers minor league report May 2: Tom Windle fans 7 in 7 scoreless innings

Jon SooHoo | LA Dodgers

The four Dodgers affiliates in action on Friday lost three games, but the one win had a standout performance.

Minor League Player of the Day

2013 second-round draft pick Tom Windle struck out seven in seven scoreless innings for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. The seven strikeouts tied a career high for Windle, who struck out seven twice last year.

Games

Triple-A Albuquerque: A 1-1 game through four innings turned into a 15-4 blowout loss for the Isotopes to the Fresno Grizzlies (Giants). A five-run fifth inning for Fresno marked the end of the line for Zach Lee, who allowed six runs on 10 hits in five innings, with four strikeouts and two walks. Backup catcher John Cannon pitched the final two innings for Albuquerque and even struck out two, though he did give up a run.

Double-A Chattanooga: Chris Reed struck out eight and was leading 5-2 through five innings, but a six-run sixth doomed the Lookouts in an 8-7 loss to the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs). Scott Schebler was 2-for-5 with a home run, his fifth homer in his last 14 games. Darnell Sweeney was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

Advanced Class-A Rancho Cucamonga: Chris Jacobs was 3-for-4 with three RBI and fell a triple shy of the cycle. Jacobs homered for a second straight game in the Quakes' 7-0 road win over the Stockton Ports (Athletics). Windle allowed only three singles and two walks in his seven innings for his third win of the year.

Class-A Great Lakes: Zachary Bird allowed two runs in six innings but was hung with the loss in the Loons' 2-0 defeat at the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays). Southpaw reliever Michael Johnson, the Dodgers' 13th-round pick last year, pitched two scoreless innings and has allowed two runs in 15⅓ innings this season, with 21 strikeouts and five unintentional walks.
