Erisbel Arruebarrena has hit .361 in AAA
Erisbel Arruebarrena has hit .361 in AAA

Minor League Player of the Day Lindsey Caughel (HiA) - seven innings, three hits, no walks and eight strikeouts.  Caughel might be considered the other guy with Julio Urias, Chris Anderson and Tom Windle on the Quakes starting rotation but Caughel has been a consistent performer in his two seasons in Rancho Cucamonga.  Caughel has struck out 45 and walked only six in 52 innings pitched.

AAA – Two unearned runs were enough in Albuquerque for the Aces (Diamondbacks) to win 2-0 over the Isotopes.  Jeff Bennett pitched well, giving up that one unearned run in six innings, Bennett allowed three hits, two walks and three strikeouts.  Yimi Garcia and Paco Rodriguez kept the Aces off the board, Matt Magill allowed the other unearned run.  Tim Federowicz went 2 for 4; Erisbel Arruebarrena was 1 for 3, Arruebarrena has hit .361 since being assigned to Albuquerque in earlier in June.

AA – The Lookouts tied the game in the bottom of the eighth but two runs in the top of the ninth secured the Blue Wahoos (Reds) 3-1 victory.  Raydel Sanchez had a solid six innings, allowing one run, six hits, four walks and two strikeouts.  Juan Ramon Noriega gave up two runs in the ninth to take the loss; Scott Schebler and Chris O'Brien each had doubles.

HiA – The Quakes took a 3-0 lead to the bottom of the eighth, the 66ers (Angels) scored single runs in each of the eighth and ninth innings but it wasn't enough as the Quakes won 3-2.   Lindsey Caughel got the win and Rob Rogers got the save despite giving up a run.  Corey Seager was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.

LoA -- The Lugnuts (Blue Jays) beat the Loons 3-2.  Scott Barlow pitched 5 innings, allowed six hits, one walk and three strikeouts.  Barlow gave up three runs, two earned.  Jesmuel Valentin was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI.

Rookie Ogden –  The Owls (Angels) scored late and won 9-4 over the Raptors.  Jose De Leon struck out six in 6 innings.  Devin Ahart was 2 for 5 with two doubles.

Rookie Arizona –  Francisco Martinez pitched well but despite an early lead, the White Sox came back and won the game 5-2.  A name to watch could be 2013 draftee, MJ Villegas.  Phoenix native, the 20-year old Villegas has pitched in two games, struck out seven and walked none in 4.1 innings.

DSL – Despite 10 hits, the Dodgers could not muster many runs as the Athletics beat the Dodgers 4-2.  Shakir Albert was 2 for 4 with a double.  Dennys Chica started and struck out five in 5 innings of work.

Coming upRed Patterson toes the rubber for the Isotopes; Nicholas Struck takes the mound for the Lookouts; Fabio Martinez starts for the Quakes; Greg Harris hopes to get the Loons back on the winning side; Bernardo Reyes makes his third start for the Raptors.

Minor League Transactions – AAA: Outfielder Jamie Romak outrighted to Albuquerque. HiA: Outfielder Jeremy Rathjen assigned to Rancho Cucamonga, outfielder Jon Garcia placed on temporary inactive list.  Ogden (Rookie):  Assigned pitcher Vaughn Hayward, outfielder Matt Jones, and catcher Hunter Redman to Ogden.  Arizona (Rookie):   Catcher Ryan Scott assigned to Arizona from Ogden; catcher Luis Rodriguez released.
