NL West Report: Minimal Change

A recap of what happened between June 2nd and June 8th in the National League West.

The standings didn't change too much, but one team did do much better than the rest.

TEAM RECAPS:

Diamondbacks (5-1 this week): Arizona had an off day Monday before visiting Colorado. The Diamondbacks swept the Rockies and outscored them 32-17. Over the weekend, Arizona hosted Atlanta. The Braves took game one but the Diamondbacks won the final two games of the series.

Padres (2-4): San Diego's week started off with a three game series against Pittsburgh in California. The Pirates won the first two games before the Padres won the finale. San Diego then had a day off before it hosted Washington Friday through Sunday. The Nationals won the first and third games while the Padres won the middle game.

Rockies (1-5): Colorado had Monday off before it hosted Arizona. But the series didn't go in favor of the Rockies as the Diamondbacks swept the three-game series. Colorado then hosted Los Angeles and lost two of three.

Giants (5-1): San Francisco also had Monday off. The Giants then visited the Reds and lost the first game. But San Fran bounced back and won the final two games of the series. After that, the Giants hosted the Mets and swept New York while outscoring them 15-10.

Dodgers (3-3): Los Angeles hosted Chicago to start the week off. The Dodgers won game one before the White Sox won the final two games. LA then had Thursday off before visiting the Rockies over the weekend. But the final game of the series only lasted six innings due to weather.

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR THESE TEAMS NEXT WEEK:

Diamondbacks: Two at home against the Astros, two on the road against the Astros, and three on the road against the Dodgers.

Padres: Day off, three on the road against the Phillies, and three on the road against the Mets.

Rockies: Four at home against the Braves and three on the road against the Giants.

Giants: Four at home against the Nationals and three at home against the Rockies.

Dodgers: Four on the road against the Reds and three at home against the Diamondbacks.

OVERALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Colorado's shortstop hit .440 over the Rockies' six-games this week. He also hit three HR and totaled five RBI. Tulowitzki also had at least two hits in every game but one.

BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE:

Diamondbacks' catcher Miguel Montero. In Arizona's 16-8 over Colorado on Wednesday June 4th. Montero went 3-4 with a homer and six RBI.

OVERALL TEAM OF THE WEEK:

The San Francisco Giants. Over the past week, San Francisco went 5-1 and increased their division lead by two games. The Giants also finished their week by winning their last five games.

WORST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE:

Rockies' pitcher Matt Belisle. When Colorado fell to Arizona 16-8 last Wednesday, Belisle gave up five earned runs on five hits in one inning (the ninth).
