Dodgers infielder Justin Turner was 1-for-2 with two walks as designated hitter for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday night in his first game of a minor league rehabilitation assignment. Here is a look at the rest of Sunday's minor league action.
Player of the day
Chris O`Brien, catcher for the Lookouts, delivered a two-run double in the ninth inning to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 walk-off with for Double-A Chattanooga, breaking a 3-for-26 slump for O'Brien.
Triple-A Albuquerque
Eighth-inning home runs by Jamie Romak and Brian Cavazos-Galvez lifted the Isotopes to a 6-5 road win over the Las Vegas 51s (Mets) in their last game before the Triple-A All-Star break. Cavazos-Galvez's shot was the first pinch-hit home run by Albuquerque on the season and was the go-ahead blow. Joc Pederson was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, and is 7-for-17 (.412) with two doubles, a triple and six walks in five games since his return from the disabled list.
Double-A Chattanooga
O'Brien's walk-off double gave the Lookouts a 5-4 win over the Huntsville Stars (Brewers). Chattanooga trailed 4-2 entering the ninth inning, but singles by Bobby Coyle, O`Koyea Dickson and pinch hitter Daniel Mayora cut the deficit to 4-3, setting up O'Brien's heroics. Andres Santiago allowed one unearned run in six innings with four strikeouts in a no-decision.
Advanced Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
Chris Anderson struck out six in four innings, but he also allowed five runs in the Quakes' 6-2 loss to the Lancaster JetHawks (Astros). Anderson allowed a three-run home run in the first inning and a two-run shot in the fourth. The Quakes managed just five hits, all singles, one of which was by Turner, who also walked twice.
Class-A Great Lakes
The Loons fell 9-7 to the Lake County Captains (Indians). Spencer Navin reached base four times and scored three runs, and Alex Santana was 2-for-4 with a double and drove in three runs in the loss.
Rookie-level Ogden
The Raptors were completely shut down 12-0 by the Billings Mustangs (Reds), and shutout on just three hits by Tyler Mahle. Right fielder Devan Ahart, the Dodgers' 16th-round pick in the 2014 draft, had two of the three hits for Ogden, and he was picked off one of the times he reached base.
Rookie-level AZL Dodgers
Dodgers second-round pick Alex Verdugo was 2-for-4 with a walk, a steal and two RBI but the AZL Dodgers lost 5-4 on the road to the AZL A's. Verdugo has an eight-game hitting streak.
