Dodgers 7/17/14 minor league report - Alex Guerrero hits another rehab homer

Alex Guerrero is hitting .400 with 2 homers in his 5 rehab games with the Arizona Dodgers

AA – Quiet game for the Lookouts offense on Thursday as they fell 7 - 2 to the BayBears (Dbacks).  Chattanooga had just 4 hits, and Noel Cuevas had half of them as he went  for 2 for 3 with a 2-run homer.  Starter Matt Shelton took the loss after he walked 7 and allowed 7 hits and 4 runs.

HiA – The Quakes fell to the Giants 7 - 5 on Thursday despite a late rally.  Jharel Cotton started the game and had a rough 1st inning as he gave up 3 runs, then he settled down before allowing 4 more runs in the 6th.  On offense Chris Jacobs went 2 for 4 with a double, while Aaron Miller had a triple and a single in 4 at bats.

LoA – The Loons were shutout 5 - 0 by the LumberKings (Mariners) in a game that they managed just 4 hits.  Brandon Trinkwon's double was the only offense highlight, although Malcolm Holland singled and stole his 31st base of the year.  Starter Victor Arano allowed 10 hits and 4 of the 5 runs in this game in just 3.2 innings of work.

Rookie Ogden – The Raptors used a solid offensive attacked to defeat the Voyagers (White Sox) 7 to 2Devan Ahart, Michael Ahmed, and Justin Chigbogu all had 2 hits and drove in a pair of runs, while Melvin Santana went 2 for 3 with a double and also had a RBI.  On the mound Jeff Brigham started and allowed 3 hits over 3 shutout innings before the bullpen took over.  Joe Broussard picked up the win after giving up a run over 2.2 frames and punching out 4.

Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodgers lost to the Reds 10 - 9 in 12 innings.  Alex Guerrero didn't play the entire game as he continues his rehab, but did manage to homer in one of his 3 official at bats.  Jared Walker's two doubles were the only other extra base hits for the Dodgers, although Alex Verdugo reached base 3 times on a single and two walks.

DSL – The Dominican Dodgers scored in the bottom of the 1st and that turned out to be the only run of the game as they shutout he Royals 1 - 0Hendrik Clementina's RBI triple is what drove in the lone run and he also singled later in the game.  Starter Robert Fernandez allowed just 2 hits over 6.2 scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 1.79.  Johan Diaz then tossed 2 shutout innings out of the bullpen and his ERA is even lower at 0.60.

Coming up – Everyone plays again on Friday, and Chris Reed will highlight the action as he throws for the Lookouts (and will face Dbacks top prospect Archie Bradley).  Tom Windle takes the mound for the Quakes, Steven Fife throws for the Isotopes, Jonathan Martinez gets the call for the Loons, and Victor Gonzalez will start for the Raptors.
