Mike Baxter has 4 hits, Joc Pederson homers in Isotopes win

Eric Stephen | True Blue LA

ALBUQUERQUE -- Mike Baxter had four hits and drove in the go-ahead run with a single in a decisive two-run eighth inning in the Isotopes' 13-11 win over the Sacramento River Cats on Friday night at Isotopes Park.

After a night that saw seven home runs, only one ball left the yard on Friday. It was hit by Joc Pederson, who hit a two-run shot in the first inning for his 18th home run of the season. Pederson in the seventh inning stole second base as part of a double steal that saw Delvys Morales cross the plate with the tying run at 10-10, in a game Albuquerque once trailed 8-2.

Pederson on the night was 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored and a walk.

Brock Peterson added two hits and a walk for the Isotopes, including a ground rule double in the sixth inning to score Pederson. Since joining the Isotopes on July 2, Peterson is hitting .385/.458/.673 with six doubles, three home runs, 12 runs and 11 RBI in 15 games.

Stephen Fife had a rough night, allowing seven runs in 3⅔ innings, but also left the game with trainer Yosuke Nakajima, appearing to tweak something on a pitch in the fourth inning. Manager Damon Berryhill said Fife was removed as a precaution with right forearm tightness and the team would know more on Saturday.

Shane Peterson, who was the hero for Sacramento on Thursday with three home runs, was held in the park but still managed four hits with two RBI and scored four runs for a second straight night. Peterson batted with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth inning, down two runs against Jose Dominguez, grounded back to Dominguez for a force play at home for the second out of the inning.

Rehab duo

Chone Figgins reached base in three of his four plate appearances in the second game of a planned four-game rehab stint. Figgins walked twice, singled and struck out. He scored in the first on Pederson's home run. Figgins played six innings at second base on Friday night, and is expected to play left field for seven innings on Saturday night.

Scott Elbert retired both batters he faced in the seventh inning, in the second night of back-to-back outings. He got a fly ball out to left field and a ground ball out to third base, throwing nine pitches in the process.

Transaction

With southpaw Paco Rodriguez in St. Louis, called up to the Dodgers bullpen, the Isotopes added Pedro Baez back to their roster before Friday night's game.
