Minor League Player of the Day – Ogden (Rookie) - Justin Chigbogu, 4-4, three home runs, three runs and four RBI. Chigbogu was the designated hitter on Friday night. He hit three of the Raptors' six home runs in their 10-8 win.
AAA – Eric Stephen recapped the Isotopes win over the River Cats (Athletics) by a 13-11 score here.
Here is one of the highlights:
AA – The debut of Corey Seager in a Lookout uniform was delayed a day due to bad weather. The Lookouts will play two on Saturday.
HiA – Julio Urias pitched a solid three innings but the Quakes lost their 8th straight game as the San Jose Giants shut them out 3-0. Urias started and struck out three and walked one in his outing. Gustavo Gomez followed and allowed two runs, five hits, two walks and struck out four. Geoff Brown allowed an unearned run in his one inning of work. But the three runs held up because the Quakes could only produce five singles.
LoA – Trailing 2-0, the Loons scored five unanswered runs to defeat the Lumber Kings (Mariners) 5-2. Jonathan Martinez started and threw six good innings, allowing two runs, six hits, two walks and struck out four. Michael Johnson got the win, Johnson went two innings and struck out three. Victor Araujo picked up the save. Jesmuel Valentin was 2 for 5 with two RBI and three stolen bases including steal of home.
Rookie Ogden – Tied at 5, the Raptors scored five runs and then held to win 10-8 over the Voyagers (White Sox). Victor Gonzalez had a rough outing where he allowed five runs, nine hits and three walks in 3.2 innings. Trevor Oaks pitched a very good 3.1 scoreless innings allowing just a hit and striking out three. But it was the offense that produced six home runs that was the main highlight of the game. Joining Chigbogu on the home run scoreboard were Cody Bellinger (who went 3 for 4 with two doubles to go along with his home run), Brian Wolf and John Cannon.
Rookie Arizona – Dodgers scored a run in the 9th but that wasn't enough as they lost to the Padres 5-1. Francisco Martinez had his roughest outing of the season, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing five runs (three earned), six hits, a walk and striking out six. Alex Guerrero was the DH and went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts.
DSL – Dodgers scored four unanswered runs to defeat the Royals 4-2. Luis Paz, Johan Mieses and Samuel Ortiz each had two hits in the win.
