The Dodgers got production from the top of their lineup and used two rallies to beat old friend Edinson Volquez in a 5-2 win over the Pirates on Monday night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
Adrian Gonzalez, who drove home the winning run in the ninth inning on Sunday night in St. Louis, reached base all five times on Monday night, with two doubles, a single and two walks.
Justin Turner, batting second in place of the injured Hanley Ramirez, was 2-for-5 with a double of his own, one that ricocheted off the glove of third baseman Josh Harrison for two runs in the fourth.
Dee Gordon was 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base, his major-league-leading 45th of the season. He was also picked off second base by Volquez.
Turner and Gonzalez scored the first two runs of the game in the third inning, thanks to a double by Matt Kemp and a ground out by Andre Ethier. Gonzalez one inning later followed the Turner double with a single to drive him home for a 5-0 lead.
That was more than enough for Hyun-Jin Ryu, who cruised through seven innings for his 11th win of the season. Ryu allowed three hits and a walk in the fourth inning for a pair of runs, both scoring on two-out singles. But outside of that Ryu allowed only two other hits and no runs.
Ryu struck out five on the night.
Notes
X-rays on the left hands of both Ramirez and Yasiel Puig on Monday in Pittsburgh were negative.
Gonzalez has reached base in six consecutive plate appearances.
With two doubles, Gonazlez had his first game with multiple extra-base hits since June 10.
The Dodgers hit four doubles on the night and lead the National League with 192 doubles this season.
Kenley Jansen set a new career high with his 29th save, pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
