Minor League Player of the DayHector Rodriguez (DSL) - 6 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs, 5 K's.  It's rare for a player from the DSL to win this award, but when you toss 6 no-hit innings it's definitely deserving.  After struggling in relatively limited action in 2013, the 19 year old Venezuelan has a 1.79 ERA over 50.1 innings in 2014 with a .177 batting average against.

AAA – The Isotopes rallied from 4 runs down in the 8th behind a Joc Pederson grand slam to edge the Grizzlies 8 to 7 on Thursday.  The big homer was the only hit of the day for Pederson, but he made it count as it was the first grand slam of the season for Albuquerque.  Jamie Romak also had a big game as he went 3 for 4 with a couple of doubles and a RBI while Carlos Triunfel had 2 hits and drove in a run as well.  Starter Red Patterson got into some trouble in the middle innings and saw his ERA increase to 5.68 after allowing 6 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks.  Once he left the game, however, the bullpen for the Topes threw well as Robert Carson picked up the win and Yimi Garcia recorded the save.  Scott Elbert also threw in this game and faced two batters, walking one and getting the other to fly out.

AA – Chris Reed got hit hard on Thursday as the Lookouts fell to the Biscuits (Rays) 6 to 4.  Reed allowed 10 hits and all 6 runs over 4.2 innings of work, although 2 of the runs were unearned.  He walk just 1 but only struck out 2.  A trio of reliever finished off the final 4.1 frames without any issues, but the offense wasn't able to rally enough for a win.  Speaking of offense, O'Koyea Dickson led the way by slugging a 2-run homer, while center fielder Darnell Sweeney went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 runs scored.

HiA – The Quakes and Mavericks (Mariners) combined to score 10 runs over the final 2 frames, but Rancho came out on the short end of the stick in a 10 - 8 lossEric has all the coverage here.

LoA – The Loons came up just short on Thursday in a 3 - 2 loss to the Bees (Angels).  Starter Brandon Martinez gave up single runs in each of the first three innings of this game, and that turned out to be the difference.  Ralston Cash followed with 3 innings of hitless relief and Mark Pope tossed a scoreless frame as well.  At the plate Webster Rivas had the only extra base hit for the Loons as he went 2 for 4 with a double.  Alex Santana and Spencer Navin also had two hits apiece.

Rookie Ogden – The Raptors got crushed by the Rockies 13 to 2 on Thursday.  Starter Victor Gonzalez gave up the first 7 runs of the game, and from there things continued to go downhill as a trio of relievers all also allowed runs.  Things weren't much better at the dish as Ogden didn't have any extra base hits in this game, and Ivan Vela had the only multi-hit game hit game as he went 2 for 2 before being removed from the game.

Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodgers fell to the White Sox 5 - 4 in 11 innings.  A late homer by Michael Medina was what pushed the game into extra frames in the first place, and Scott De Jong also went deep earlier in the game.  Matt Jones went 2 for 4 with a double but the team was 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position.  On the mound Francisco Martinez allowed 6 hits and 4 runs over 5 innings, but only 1 of those runs was earned thanks to 4 errors by his defense behind him.  several players threw in relief but Harlan Richter took the loss.

DSL – The Dominican Dodgers got a brilliant performance out of their pitching staff in 4 - 0 shutout of the Athletics.  Starter Hector Rodriguez tossed 6 no-hit innings to being the game, striking out 5 and walking a pair.  Michael Londono follows with 2 scoreless frames but allowed the first hit of the game, then Angel Bautista finished up the 2-hitter but giving up a hit in the 9th.  The offense didn't have much firepower themselves as they didn't record an extra base hit in this game, and actually all of the runs they scored were unearned thank to 4 errors by the A's defense.  Luis Subero recorded the only RBI for the Dodgers and went 1 for 4.

Coming up – Everyone plays but the Arizona Dodgers on Friday, and the top pitcher going will be Tom Windle for the Quakes.  Carlos Frias is coming off a win for the Isotopes, Steve Smith takes the mound for the Lookouts, Scott Barlow gets the ball for the Loons, and J.D. Underwood throws for the Raptors.

Minor League Transactions – AAA: Griff Erickson was placed on the DL with a sprained ankle.  HiA: Luis Chirinos was assigned to the Quakes from the Loons.  LoA: Brandon Martinez was activated from the DL.
