RENO -- The punishment has been handed down from the Pacific Coast League for the brawl between Triple-A Albuquerque and Reno on Saturday night. Six Isotopes were suspended for their roles in the fracas, though the length of shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena's suspension has yet to be determined, as his roster status is sorted out.
Arruebarrena was technically on the major league disabled list on a rehab assignment on Saturday, but by Sunday the Dodgers activated him from the DL and optioned him to Class-A Rancho Cucamonga.
Starting pitcher Carlos Frias was suspended for seven games, and relief pitchers Jose Dominguez and Pedro Baez were docked four games. Relief pitcher Yimi Garcia and infielder Walter Ibarra were each suspended for three games.
Frias and Ibarra began their suspensions on Monday night, and three others are staggered. Dominguez will serve his suspension after Frias is done, Baez will serve his suspension after Dominguez, then Garcia after Baez.
Arruebarrena took an elongated trip around the bases, roughly 30 seconds on Friday night after hitting a three-run home run to extend Albuquerque's lead to 11-0 over Reno. Not coincidentally, the next night in his first at-bat Arruebarrena felt he was thrown at by Aces starter Mike Bolsinger, who ultimately struck out the shortstop. After his at-bat, Arruebarrena was arguing with catcher Blake Lalli, then shoved him and both benches emptied.
Six Aces also got suspended.
