RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- Class-A Quakes pitcher Jharel Cotton was name the California League Pitcher of the Week on Monday, after making his best start of the season last Tuesday against Bakersfield.

Cotton struck out nine and allowed just one hit and three walks in seven scoreless innings on July 22 on the road against the Blaze, a Reds affiliate. Cotton has lasted at least six innings in six of his last seven starts. He is scheduled to start for Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday night at Lake Elsinore.

The Dodgers drafted Cotton in the 20th round in 2012. The 22-year-old right-hander is 4-7 with a 5.40 ERA in 19 games, including 14 starts this season, with 92 strikeouts and 25 walks in 85 innings.

Cotton is the second Quake to win pitcher of the week honors this season, joining Lindsey Caughel, who won for the week of July 7-13 and for the week of June 23-29.
