LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers on Thursday confirmed six signings of international amateur free agents to open the 2014-2015 international signing period. The five players reported on Wednesday were confirmed by the team, as was 16-year-old first baseman Eric Meza.
Meza is from Guadalajara, Mexico, and was playing with Diablos Rojos in the Mexican League. After going 3-for-5 with an RBI in a game in April, the 16-year-old made his ambitions clear to Vanguardia.
"God grant that what you do here will serve me to go to the big leagues, and if not, to continue to support the Red Devils," said Meza after the game (with help from Google Translate).
Here is video of a walk-off home run hit by Meza in January.
The bonus amount for Meza is unknown
