Joc Pederson continues to hit home runs but Isotopes lose

Minor League Player of the DayJoc Pederson (AAA) 2 for 4, double, home run, a walk and RBI.

AAA – The Isotopes jumped out to an early lead on Thursday and then fell behind only to come back again but to no avail as the Sky Sox (Rockiers) scored twice to walkoff with the 9 to 8 win. Three Isotopes homered led by Joc Pederson's 31st, Brock Petersen homered and went 4 for 5 and Jamie Romak hit a grand slam.  Clint Robinson went 3 for 5 and Alex Guerrero doubled twice.

Zach Lee started and pitched 5.1 innings and allowed four runs and seven hits.  He also struck out six.  Scott Elbert allowed a run in two thirds of an inning.  Red Patterson gave up two runs and four hits. But it was Robert Carson who gave up the walk-off runs and took the loss.

AA – Darnell Sweeney hit a key two-run triple as the Lookouts held on to beat the Barons (White Sox) 6 to 4. Jeremy Kehrt collected his first Lookout win as he pitched 6 innings, allowing two runs, six hits, two walks and struck out three.  Mike Thomas pitched a scoreless 9th inning for the save.  Scott Schebler hit his league-leading 13th triple as he went 2 for 5.  O'Koyea Dickson was 2 for 3 with a double.  Despite the win, the Lookouts remain three games behind as their elimination sits at seven.

HiA – The Quakes fell behind by four and could not catch the Visalia (Diamondbacks) as the Quakes were swept losing 5 to 3.  Tom Windle made the start and he gave up all five runs (four earned) in 6 innings of work.  Windle allowed eleven hits and two walks and struck out two.  Aaron Miller hit his 14th home run and drove in two runs.  Pratt Maynard had two hits and an RBI.  The Quakes are one game back with a little over a week to go but they need to start winning soon.

LoA – The Loons sent four pitchers to the mound on Wednesday and they shut down the Hot Rods (Rays) for the 1 to 0 win.  John Richy, Zachary Bird, Matt Campbell and Jacob Rhame gave up just two hits and four walks but they also struck out 16. Devan Ahart was 3 for 5.  Webster Rivas was 2 for 2 with winning RBI and two walks.

Rookie Ogden – The Raptors and Owlz (Angels) were tied 7 to 7 and then after Ogden scored two runs to take a lead, Orem scored a pair of threes in the 8th and 9th to win 13 to 9. Three Raptors hit home runs: Cody Bellinger, Justin Chigbogu and Julian Leon. Leon also drove in five runs.  Trevor Oaks started and gave up four runs in 3 innings pitched but Vaughn Hayward was the pitcher who allowed the last six runs (four earned) that gave Orem the win.

Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodgers lost a rain-shortened game to the Reds 2 to 0Kevin Guzman pitched for Dodgers, in his 4.2 innings he gave up two runs, four hits, three walks and struck out seven.  In five turns at the plate, the Dodgers only had three hits.

DSL – The Dominican Dodgers lost to the Astros 6 to 2 on Thursday.

Coming upJeff Bennett takes the mound for the Isotopes on Friday, while Andres Santiago starts for the Lookouts. Chris Anderson gets the ball for the Quakes, Scott Barlow throws for the Loons, and Jeff Brigham toes the rubber for the Raptors.
