Organ Donation and Transplantation: How Does it Work?
An average of 18 people die each day while on the waiting list, so there is always a way for you to help. You can donate money to someone in need, you can register to be an organ donor, or you can just spread the word. Honestly, getting the word out there to as many people as you can is probably more helpful than anything else.
With my latest surgery and other tests I have moved up the list some, but I honestly don't know where that places me. They don't release that information. All I really know is that the transplant clinic is pushing me to raise funds because the costs will be overwhelming.
I have also setup a PayPal account at titans2589@yahoo.com
On top of this I have a few friends who are wildlife photographers and they will be selling off prints of photographs they have taken on trips to Africa. I am also looking into possibly auctioning off tickets to a Dodger game if it looks like that will be worth it monetarily.
These are just a few things I have in the works. I have friends and family who are talking to local businesses and the local paper about doing something here as well.
I appreciate any and all help anyone can give. If that is just spreading the word then that is great as well. In the 12+ hours that this has been setup I have gotten numerous donations of $20 or $25 from people I don't know (friends and family of people that shared this on social media). The promotion and spreading of the word has been heartwarming. It's nice knowing there are so many good people out there.
