Dodgers favored to win NL pennant, play Angels in World Series

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Entering the final week of the regular season, the Dodgers are only a pair of wins shy of clinching the National League West, having already assured themselves of a playoff spot at the very least. The Dodgers are currently the No. 2 seed in the National League, but the oddsmakers at Bovada peg them as the favorites to win the National League pennant.

The Dodgers have 2/1 odds to win the National League pennant, meaning a $10 bet would net a $20 profit if successful. The Nationals, owners of the best record in the senior circuit and 2½ games better than the Dodgers, have 11/2 odds to take the NL pennant, followed by 7/2 odds for the NL Central-leading Cardinals, 11/2 for the Giants and 13/2 for the Pirates.

The Brewers, currently on the outside looking in and with an elimination number of three, have 150/1 odds to represent the NL in the World Series.

The two local teams are Bovada's favorites to win the 2014 World Series, with the Angels at 2/1 odds to win the fall classic, followed by 11/2 odds for both the Dodgers and Nationals, 6/1 odds for the Tigers, 13/2 odds for the Orioles, and 15/2 for the Cardinals. The A's and Giants have 12/1 odds to win it all, followed by 14/1 for Pittsburgh, 16/1 for the Royals and 20/1 for the Mariners.

These are the same odds for the Dodgers as on Sep. 2, with the Nationals improving from 5/2 and 6/1 odds to win the pennant and World Series, respectively.
